Published continuously since 1994, the Scout Report is one of the Internet’s oldest and most respected publications. The Scout Report is the flagship publication of the Internet Scout Project. Published every Friday both on the web and by email, it provides a fast, convenient way to stay informed of valuable resources on the Internet. A team of librarians and subject matter experts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison select, research, and annotate each resource.

Created by a network of UK universities and partners, Intute is a free online service providing you with access to high quality web resources for education and research. Subject specialists select and evaluate the websites in our database and write high quality descriptions of the resources. As of 22 February 2008, the database has 121,376 records.

Part of the National Science Digital Library, NSDL Pathways are portals created to support efficient resource discovery for broad categories of users. Pathway portals are developed and managed in partnership with organizations and institutions that have a history and expertise in serving their portal’s target audiences — in effect, they act as reference librarians for their communities. The USGS Latest Quake Info page includes real-time maps, real-time seismogram displays plus other information for the most recent earthquakes recorded by U.S. and global seismographic networks.

The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.

The California Statistical Abstract is a compilation of data on social, economic, and physical aspects of the State. The volume is a cooperative effort of various government agencies, coordinated and issued annually by the California Department of Finance, Economic Research Unit. The California Statistical Abstract is available for download in Excel and PDF formats.

The National Library of Medicine has released the NLM Drug Information Portal. This resource provides the public, healthcare professionals, and researchers with a gateway to current and accurate drug information from the National Library of Medicine and to other key government agencies.

The Drug Information Portal offers a varied selection of resources and focused topics in medicine and drug-related information, with links to individual resources with drug information and summaries tailored to various audiences. General drug categories from MeSH are also included in the Drug Portal records.

The Materials Module of Mercury provides software for aiding the discovery of new pharmaceutical crystal forms. It utilizes the unique information about crystal packing in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) as a knowledge base for identifying and analyzing crystal-packing motifs. The module enables novel motif searches and analyses of the CSD that are applicable to problems such as:

ChemgaPedia is the most comprehensive curricular encyclopedia for chemistry. The German version features more than 15,000 pages with 25,000 media elements, 900 exercises as well as 3,500 glossary and biography entries for the following subjects: chemistry, biology, pharmacy, mathematics, and physics. The translation of the entire content is still in process. More than 100 learning units are currently available in English. See: ChemgaPedia overview
