Hands down the best class I have taken at Stanford. It is the only class that actually prepares you for the real world of AI engineering, moving as fast as the industry itself.

Going into this course I didn't expect to ship something that actually makes phone calls. But here we are. That's wild to me.

I never viewed myself as a builder or someone who could make something from scratch. This course was the first exposure I had to deploying an app, learning what AWS actually is, and how to implement RAG beyond the high-level understanding. I found confidence in myself to work on a product from ideation to the functioning product we showed on demo day.

No exams, no memorization. Just implementation every week. Guest lectures introduced tools we could apply the next day. That's how I actually learn. This was the most demanding course I took this quarter, and also the most fruitful.

This course changed how I think about building AI products. Coming in, I expected the hardest part to be prompt writing and model selection. By the end, I learned that the real challenge is systems design: getting models, retrieval, frontend UX, and deployment to work together reliably in real time.

The pace is incredible. You go from zero to a deployed, venture-backable product in 10 weeks. The guest speakers are the actual people building the tools we use.

Take it. It is a very hands-on course where your group operates like a startup, working through sprints throughout the semester. You get to build something you're interested in, and it offers great exposure to how real teams develop and iterate on products.

I found the two-week sprint format surprisingly impactful. It created a kind of 'startup mode' that forced momentum and prevented procrastination. I got way more exposure to agent development than I did building agents at my summer internship.

If you want to build a startup, this is the place to be. The demo day exposure is unlike anything else, and you aren't just learning outdated theory—you are shipping code.
