Learning is:

  • understanding
  • reflection
  • fun and personally interesting
  • doing/constructing something personally meaningful
  • sharing (both process of doing and end product)
  • able to explain or interpret
  • able to apply (maybe, not necessarily, may not be applicable in all areas)

For the last point, I'm not very sure if demonstration of application is a proof of understanding and vice versa - not being able to apply/do something is an indication of a lack of understanding. I think learning is a mental process of internalization not necessarily displayable.

Learning is developed incrementally when there is interactions between learners, objects to think with, processes and environments (including spaces).

Dan Gilbert Good point here about the incremental nature of learning and the various interactions. My experience has been that spaces support learning best when all of the stakeholders look for ways to make incremental changes that they can process rather than revolutionary changes that don't fit within existing frameworks. Thanks again.
