Drive Train
Our drive train consists of two Jameco 161382 motors driving two 3" scooter wheels. The wheel type was selected for its good traction on the game court. To alleviate the torque on the motors’ shafts, we connected the motor shafts to spider couplers which were then in turn connected to the D-profile shafts that directly drive the wheels. The wheels were supported on both sides by ball bearings to further reduce the load on the motors.
In addition to the two ball casters added to the front and back of the platform for stability, our drive train level also host the two batteries for the bot. This helped further stabilize our bot by lowering its center mass.
