Meg: I attempted to get interviews tonight at the Red Lion in Athens, but nobody owned a car, even back in their home countries. I tried to ask them about what they'd like in a car, but they were more interested in playing darts, drinking beer, and gossiping about fellow classicists. Will try again with Helike volunteers, but I won't be able to get these for another two weeks. I REALLY recommend having everyone in the group send out email questionnaires. I've exhausted my list of friends, but we should be able to reach the goal of 20 overnight if everyone sends out an email to just five people (assuming ONE will respond).

chris witmore: Meg will add some of her interviews this evening, as will I add a second NASCAR interview. These should place us on the mark for 20 by July 5.

chris witmore: We would like to look back in time in the interviews. Example: how has your relationship to your car changed over the last decades?

chris witmore: Where are they getting information about how they relate to their car from?

chris witmore: We need a diversity of age groups?

Serena: I can't do interviews but I had two people in mind. Phil Narvarro at AutoLand in Palo Alto (I'll get a phone number). And my friend Tony Barrios is a 35 year old editor for the Speed cable channel and he may have some insights about car culture (I'll post the phone number or email later). If someone wants to interview a 40-something stay-at-home mother, then I'm sure my sister, Treva Gaffney, will help tgaffney@socal.rr.com or 714-842-3881.

zaslow: As to diversity of age groups: I just posted an interview with a woman who is 72. I think it will be important to interview more people in the 50-60 range; these folks can be very tech-savvy, having been in tech-laden workplaces.

chris witmore: RTNA would like the diversity to not only include age groups, but income, geography, etc.

David Platt: I'm also going to group this category with
The Experience of Driving, as the interviews seem so relevant.
