#47. Secret Town, 62 miles from Sacramento

HISTORIC:

Secret Town was no longer a station by the time of the publication of Shearer’s guide in 1884, but when Hart took the photo the town, such as it was, was still a station and a settlement.

Shearer p.251 “Between Gold Run and Cape Horn Mills the road crosses Secret Town Ravine. There was formerly a station at this point. The high embankment covers a curved trestle work 1,100 feet long.”

p. 252 “[At Secret Town] There is a side track, but it is not now a station.”

MODERN:

The modern photograph betrays no sign of the old settlement.
