The street in this print is named Via Paolina after Paul V Borghese (1605-1621) under whom it was laid out. The same Pope added the domed transept chapel to S. Maria Maggiore (3) Plate 122, which we see as the nearer of the two at the end of the street. Facing onto a widening in the street known as Via Sforza is the convent and church of the Annunziata (1) founded by a granddaughter of Paul V. Across the street on the right is the flank of the convent of the Filippine (2) Plate 158, whose main facade is on Via dei Quattro Cantoni, the street in the middle distance, perpendicular to Via Paolina.
