Science Art-Nature presents Challenges of Climate Change

Topics: Coral Reefs (Threats)

“With the degradation and bleaching of coral reefs around the world, and over 90 percent affected in some way, I wanted to show the beauty, complexity and diversity of this threatened habitat. In the painting, the fish are portrayed in a radial exodus from a viewpoint beneath the water looking up and simultaneously down at the circular outline of an atoll.”

Curator's comment:  As sea level rises, islands may experience more frequent flooding potentially degrading freshwater reserves and making atolls uninhabitable.
