Anyone who has been to a beach knows that gulls will eat just about anything. Near water, as fish become more scarce, junk food left behind by humans is easier for these opportunistic birds "to catch". Gulls also live inland. For example, they may be found at landfills scavanging garbage and and parking lots feeding on discarded food scraps. According to research, some gulls are becoming less healthy and their eggs are becoming smaller and shells weaker due to malnutrition, leading to fewer offspring.
