As the assignment requires us to create visuals based on the given audio, I first listened to the audio, which immediately reminded me of the wedding scene in Akira Kurosawa's Dreams. I then decided to explore the theme of marriage. The piece is structured in three parts, revolving around the implications captured in a single photograph, the fleeting moment of a relationship frozen in time and what unfolds from it: the married life suggested by a wedding photo; the multitude of factors that create distance in an intimate yet detached kiss; and what it means to place a kiss within a historical and political context—resistance or rebirth? I used visual juxtaposition to achieve counterintuitive effects and to provoke thought.

The possibilities and limitations of the Runway AI Film tool. What surprised me the most was AI's ability to generate possibilities and impossibilities. For instance, a newlywed couple with perfect smiles in a photograph could never exhibit nearly frenzied expressions, even though this might be the most common state in marriage and relationships. Similarly, an unfinished kiss in an archival image could be brought to life through AI. However, AI also has many limitations, not to mention its technical shortcomings (such as the inability to maintain a realistic style). Its logic for generating visuals is highly Western-centric. As for editing, I employed techniques such as jump cuts, masks, collage, J-cuts, and montage, among others. I hope to explore the possibilities of sound further. For example, how to pitch-shift audio to achieve musicality when switching between realistic audio and music.
