He served in the U.S. Navy before and during World War II, having enlisted May 25, 1937 in Chicago. In 1940 and 1941 he was serving as Seaman 3rd Class on the U.S.S. Pyro. His Social Security card was issued in California. In September 1953 he resided at 279 Ramsell Street, San Francisco, California. His occupation was given as division manager.
