Mathilda was living at home in June, 1880, leaving sometime before June, 1900. In that year she was living with her brother Charles and his wife at 19 North Seventh Street, Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. Her brother Oscar also lived with them. Tillie's occupation was given as salesman, gloves.

From at least 1905 through 1916 she was a buyer for Hahne and Co. She lived as a boarder at the Hotel Kensington, 65 Broad, Newark in 1905. In 1914 she boarded at 10 Washington Place, and in 1916 at the Hotel Aberdeen.

Mathilda never married. She probably lived with her sister, Mrs. Laura Traudt Metz, in her later years, possibly as early as 1916.
