Women in Black is a feminist cultural activist organization seeking peaceful resolutions to situations of war and violence which put women and children at risk.

The Women's Sports Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1974 by Billie Jean King to seek access and equity for girls and women in sports and fitness.

The mission of the Seniwati Schoolgirls Workshop Gallery is to "expose the world to the long understated brilliance of Balinese women artists; encourage Balinese girls' creativity; assist talented women to market their art."

BRAVA! for Women in the Arts, located in the Mission District in San Francisco, is one of the few female operated theatre companies in the world, specializing staging works by women of color and lesbians. Learn about their history and find links to current productions and training programs online.

This Russian NGO publishes Woman Plus, a cultural educational magazine, and maintains the OWL information portal in Russian and English

Feminist science projects aimed at young girls seek to instill and maintain girls' interest in science and math while still making learning enjoyable--two such projects are Girls & Technology: The Adventures of Josie True and Whyville.net

Women in the Director's Chair is a feminist media arts/activist center which exhibits, promotes, and educates about media made by women

Women Make Movies is a multiracial non-profit arts organization founded in 1972 to address the under-representation and misrepresentation of women in the media

New Moon publications are committed to equipping girls withstrategies to resist stereotypes, to "make their voices heard, and their dreams taken seriously"

An on-line magazine magazine launched in 2005 by a women's studies major, The F-Word features interviews with writers and artists, international news, sex and health information and much more geared to young feminists but of interest to all.

Spirituality

National and regional sites

The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) is an independent political/social organization of Afghan women seeking human rights and democratic government in Afghanistan

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom was founded during World War I to "achieve through peaceful means world disarmament, full rights for women, racial and economic justice, an end to all forms of violence..." and more

Women Living Under Muslim Laws is an international site providing info and support to women living lives "shaped or governed by laws derived from the Islamic tradition" (in French and English)

Greenham Common is another example of women's mobilizations for peace.

The Americas

The National Women's Political Caucus is a national organization that seeks to increase women's political representation in the U.S. by recruiting and supporting pro-choice women in their bid for political office. See their site for news, events, and the Women & Political Progress Factsheets

Emily's List is a grassroots political network devoted to supporting (financially and otherwise) pro-choice Democratic women running for national office, and to mobilizing women voters nationwide.

Other NGOs in the United States include the Third Wave Foundation, which inspires young activists and funds feminist projects and the MS Foundation which sponsors "Take Our Daughters to Work" and funds programs for women and girls.

Semillas (Sociedad Mexicana Pro Derechos de la Mujer) offers seed grants to support the self-initiated projects of marginalized women's organizations in Mexico. Site is in Spanish.

National Women's Law Center offers research and advocacy on U.S. women's issues ; see the helpful "what you can do" section

The Center for Women and Democracy at the University of Washington "promotes women's full representation, participation, and leadership, while respecting the political, economic and social diversity in cultures worldwide."
