Setting up a new HAVnet Project: Using Sparrow
The HAVnet Project staff selected a collaborative
software package, Sparrow from Xerox PARC, to help us keep manage the
multiple projects, events, proposals, and documents. This page will help
orient you and help you get started with Sparrow.
1. Select a template from this list:
- Event (conference, interactive teaching lesson, demo, etc.)
- Project
(set of tasks done by multiple individuals)
- Plan
(shared document writing)
- Proposal
(formatted document in Microsoft Office application)
- Resources
(set of Web links)
- Log
(dated set of events: series of tests, application development)
- To Do List
(Individual or Collaborative list of tasks related to a project)
2. Copy the page and give it a new name:
When asked to name the page, please use the following
naming convention:
- Event (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/event/eventname.html)
- Project (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/project/projectname.html)
- Plan (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/plan/planname.html)
- Proposal (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/proposal/proposalname.html)
- Resources (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/resources/resourcename.html)
- Log (http://elegon.stanford.edu:9080/sparrow/logs/logname.html)
3. Edit your page. It will be saved automatically.
4. Bookmark your page in your browser so you
can find it again.
