it is my first easily recognizable picture of a tinamou,
and thus of order clearly Tinamiformes.
Darwin's eggs-cellent - rediscovery
Tinamou egg from Uruguary - only egg collected by Darwin on his Beagle voyage
Rediscovered in 2009, year of the Darwin bicentennial
Outside blog with commentary
- "One egg, received through Frank Darwin, having been sent to me by his father who said he got it at Maldonado (Uruguay) and that it belonged to the Common Tinamou of those parts."
- Alfred Newton
