Policymakers

Thank you for visiting the Policymakers Room of the National Center for Postsecondary Improvement! This site is designed to assist state and federal policymakers, legislative staff, and funders:

  • Make better use of assessment information for strategic decision-making and improving methods of remediation.
  • Understand the link between of school-to-work transitions and economic outcomes, youth labor markets and the role of education in workforce development, as well as the benefits of school-to-work programs and improved K-16 alignment.
  • Evaluate the misalignment between the directions of national, state, and institutional policies of education finance, on the one hand, and the needs of low-income students for financial support on the other as well as the effects of financial aid on student access and institutional choice.
  • Understand the results of the termination of affirmative action policies for college admissions, including the complex and confusing signals being sent to students and parents.
