Late policy
Hofstadter's Law: "It always takes longer than you think, even when you take Hofstadter's Law into account."
The ground rules:
-
All assignments this quarter will be due on Fridays at 11:59pm Anywhere on Earth1. Students who submit their assignment by the deadline will receive a small "on-time" bonus applied to their assignment score.
-
All students are also automatically granted a penalty-free 48 hour extension on every assignment. This means that you can submit the assignment by Sunday at 11:59pm Anywhere on Earth, with no impact on your assignment grade. This grace period is meant to give built-in flexibility for any unexpected snags. Given the condensed end-of-quarter schedule, this policy may not apply to the last assignment of the quarter.
-
Late submissions are not accepted after the grace period expires, unless there is an exceptional situation that the teaching team has been made aware of, as described below.
-
We understand that exceptional circumstances may arise this quarter that prevent students from being able to submit assignments within the grace period. In situations like these, please reach out directly to the course staff (Chris, Nick, and Julie). We will work with you to make appropriate accommodations for your situation. In doing so, our philosophy will be to balance the challenges of the current moment with the desire to keep students on track in the course overall. The course has a steady weekly cadence of assignments, and falling far behind on any one assignment can result in a snowball effect on keeping up with the rest of the course. That all being said, please reach out to us and we will work with you to find the best route forward to stay on track.
