Exams

Highlights

  • There will be a take-home midterm which will take a 3-hour window between Monday 2/10 and Tuesday 2/11. More details below.
  • There will be a final exam 3:30pm-6:30pm on Monday 3/16.
  • NOTE: Updates about the final exam are coming soon. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we will be offering a remote exam during the scheduled exam spot. Stay tuned here and on Piazza for more information.
  • As promised at the beginning of the quarter, both exams will have at least one problem that is similar to one of your homework problems.

Midterm

Important info about the midterm:

  • The midterm is a take-home, closed-book, timed (3 hour) test. You are allowed to use a double-sided cheat sheet that you have prepared yourself during the exam, but nothing else.
  • The midterm will be picked up on Monday 2/10 and dropped off Tuesday 2/11. You can use any three hour window between pick-up and drop-off to take the exam.
  • Please see this Piazza post for all of the details about the midterm exam logistics and review sessions.
  • The midterm covers up through, and including, Lecture 7.
  • Here is a practice exam, which has approximately the same format that our midterm will have.

Final Exam

Important info about the final:

  • NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the final is optional. See Piazza for details.
  • Stay tuned to Piazza for information about review sessions.
  • The final covers Lecture 1-17. Since there was no HW on Lecture 17 (Max-Flow, Ford-Fulkerson), you can expect lighter coverage of that material.
  • Expect the format of the final to be similar to that of the midterm.

Practice material. (Note: Practice Finals 1 and 2 are based on previous finals Prof. Wootters has given in this class. The other two finals (from Fall 2016 and Fall 2019) are by different instructors and may cover/emphasize slightly different material).
