Assignment 0

Due Thursday, September 24 at 1:00 pm Pacific

Welcome to CS193V! In this first assignment, you'll sign up for the services this course will make use of (Claude for Education, ChatGPT Edu, and GitHub) and tell us a bit more about yourself so that we know who's in the course.

Step 1: Register for Stanford-Sponsored AI Licenses

We will make use of Claude Code (Anthropic) and ChatGPT Codex (OpenAI) this quarter. Stanford has site licenses with each company, providing you free access to the equivalent of their $20/month paid tiers. If you have not already done so, use the two links below to register for access to Claude for Education and ChatGPT Edu:

Register for Claude for Education.

Register for ChatGPT Edu.

Step 2: Sign up for GitHub

GitHub is a widely-used industrial platform for hosting software source code and streamlining team collaboration. We will be using it this quarter for assignment submissions. You will therefore need a GitHub account for this course.

You'll need to do the following:

  1. Create a GitHub account. GitHub is a website that lets you store backups of your code, distribute code you wrote to others, and collaborate on coding projects as a team. Visit github.com and sign up for a free account using your @stanford.edu email address.

If you already have an existing GitHub account and your @stanford.edu email address is not associated with it, you may either add that email to your existing account or create a new account using your @stanford.edu account.

  2. Verify your @stanford.edu email address. GitHub will want to verify that you control your @stanford.edu email address so that it knows the account you've created is linked to your email. Follow these steps to do this.

Step 3: Tell us about yourself!

To finish this assignment, please fill out the following Google Form:

📝 Assignment 0 Google Form

The form will ask for some basic information about you and ask you to confirm that you've completed the above steps.

Once you submit, congrats! You're done! Go celebrate and relax. Maybe do something on our outdoor activities guide?
