What is learning? Learning involves change and activity of some kind. To learn is to grow -- but not necessarily grow up. You can learn to be a more knowledgeable person, a more skilled person, an expert. You can learn to be less knowledgeable, less skilled, a novice. There's an underlying assumption that learning and development automatically imply productive/positive evolution. But it's not necessarily monotonic. I'm a far less proficient mathematician than I was in high school. My French-speaking skills have atrophied. It may be more appropriate to speak of being a "learner" -- someone actively, presently engaged in a proces of "growing up".
