The Academic Impact of Netspeak
To take the study further, research was done on the possible impact of Netspeak in the academic sphere. In an article written for the San Jose Mercury News, Jennifer Lee reveals the rising level of younger children who have difficulty differentiating between the two forms of writing, Netspeak and academic writing. Our results indicate, however, that although current college students have also grown up with Netspeak conventions, they do not have the same trouble differentiating between the two types of writing.
