Although Vasi contrives this view so as to reveal its entire façade, the Seminario Romano (3) is actually partially hidden from this vantage point. Via del Seminario takes its name from this institution and leads to Piazza della Rotonda, Plate 25. To the right of the Seminary is the modest two-level facade of S. Mauto, which both Vasi and Nolli refer to as S. Mauto (2). The church was rebuilt in the late 1570s at the same time as the Seminary, and served as its chapel. In the piazza S. Mauto, in front of the church, once stood the obelisk which was removed so as to be placed on the fountain in front of the Pantheon in 1711, Plate 25. On the left we see the right angled corner of the piazza defined by part of the Dominican monastery (4) which takes up most of that block. At far right one can see the edge of Raguzzini's casamento on Piazza S. Ignazio (1) Plate 163.
