Innovators Toolkit Workshop (ITW)
DEVELOPER & COACH. In response to the Covid-19 panic, I wrote and released a series of YCISL Toolkit papers to help parents maintain their child's scholarly acuity during the disruption in education. The five skills in the YCISL Tookit have been framed into the Innovators Tookit Workshop, an online training program.
Popcorn with Colin (PwC)
HOST. I launched "Popcorn with Colin" in mid-2020 as a casual conversation meet-up opportunity around topics in creativity. In 2020, we focused on the "Do Schools Kill Creativity?" TEDTalk in tribute to Sir Ken Robinson. In 2021, we are starting with the topic of divergent-convergent thinking.
Stanford Environmental & Water Studies Summer Program
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. I have primary responsibility for the planning, organization, administration and marketing for the Stanford Environmental & Water Studies Summer Program. This program, focused on extraordinary academic enrichment, draws on matriculated Stanford students as well as visiting and outreach students.
Singapore Stanford Partnership
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. I have primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Stanford-side office of the Singapore Stanford Partnership. Focus areas include (a) management of our summer residency program, (b) management of communications technology and course delivery, (c) student affairs and advising, and (d) curriculum development and programming. I also teach workshops in project proposal design, and critical thinking communication. The SSP program ended in mid-2015.
Center for Sustainable Development & Global Competitiveness
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR. I have been involved with the Stanford Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness with lead responsibility for operations and marketing. I am currently focused on a Youth Leadership program that promotes critical design and application thinking to environmentally sustainable products and ideas. More on SDGC...
Teaching
COURSE INSTRUCTOR. I am currently PI for the Environmental Engineering Seminar course (Fall, Winter & Spring) managing the Canvas web site, credit deferrals, seminar logging, and recording grades. In Spring 2008, 2009 and 2010, I taught CEE 276E Environmental Toxicants, a senior undergraduate/graduate course at Stanford. Previously in Spring 2005, I also designed and taught CEE 373 Modeling Aqueous Chemical Environments. In Summer 2010, I was developer and co-instructor of course on Environmental Informatics (CEE 277E). I have also been co-developer and SI for several other courses including CEE 176G/276G Sustainability Design Thinking, CEE 177L/277L Smart Cities & Communities, CEE 175S/275S Environmental Entrepreneurship & Innovation, CEE 170S/270S Environmental Disasters, and CEE 175Q/275Q Changing Human Behavior: Drivers and Barriers in Environmental Action. In Summer 2020, I was PI of CEE 199J Summer Independent Study in Environmental Engineering & Science.
Environmental Engineering & Science Research
RESEARCH COLLABORATOR. I had been working with Dr. May Wang from UC Berkeley on developing a time-saving and more accurate method (videofi) for food intake estimation. I also have limited involvement with the Exposure Research Group as the developer of VideoTraq.CONTACT
