Professor Spormann teaches a one year curriculum in Environmental Microbiology.
The core is composed of two lecture courses:
- CEE274A/Bio280A/CHEMENG 174 Environmental Microbiology
- CEE274B/Bio280B/CHEMENG 456 Microbial Bioenergy Systems
and a microbiology mini-course in the Spring :
These courses focus on fundamental aspects of bacterial metabolism and physiology, molecular microbiology and genomics, and molecular evolution. The courses are designed for graduate students and advanced undergraduate students with an interest in the molecular basis of the diversity and plasticity of microbes. In alternate years Professor Spormann offers a course on microbial biofilms.
