Stanford Summer Symphony 2024

The Stanford Summer Symphony is one of three orchestras, along with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Philharmonia, sponsored by the Stanford Department of Music. The SSS rehearses twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:30pm) for five weeks beginning in early July and presents its concert on the first Friday of August. This year rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, 2 July 2024 with the concert taking place on Friday, 2 August 2024 at 7:30pm in Bing Concert Hall.

Members of the Stanford Summer Symphony include high school students enrolled in the Summer Session along with Stanford undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members, with a total membership of approximately 80 musicians. Stanford affiliation is not required for membership, which is determined by audition and is open to musicians of all ages. Anyone who wants to play in the summer orchestra should fill out the 2024 Stanford Summer Symphony Participation Form and sign up here for an audition time (on Zoom) on 17 April. Once that day fills up, other audition dates will be added. Summer Session students, community members, and any Stanford students or Stanford-affiliated individuals who did not audition earlier this year will need to audition.
