Welcome Spring Quarter Students!

The Crises of Modernity is the third quarter of The Examined Life, a three-quarter epic journey through the history of Western philosophy. We hope you'll enjoy this course; we're certainly planning to!

To the left, you'll find a few links to get started: our syllabus, which will be handed out in class on our first class in April; and the readings, where you'll find the readings for the initial class session. As the course proceeds, we will also post supplementary readings there.

If you're new to the course, and would like to take a look at what we covered in the Fall or Winter Quarter, go to the Fall Quarter or Winter Quarter homepage, where you'll find a syllabus as well as links to some readings. You can also check out the Lectures page, where you can download and listen to audio recordings of the majority of the sessions from the past two quarters, if you're feeling especially ambitious!
