Common questions about assignments
What programming environment and tools are used?
This list is subject to change, but we currently plan to offer at least some exposure to all of the following:
- Anthropic: Claude Chat, Claude Cowork, Claude Code
- Google: Gemini Enterprise, Notebook Gemini (AKA NotebookLM), Deep Research, Data Insights, Code Assist
- OpenAI: ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, ChatGPTEdu, Codex
- Microsoft: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Github Copilot
- Free, open-source models (Deepseek, Mistral, Llama)
- Connectors from AI models to your Google Drive files, email, Slack, and more
What is the assignment schedule?
Assignments go out weekly. Your work on them will launch at your weekly tutorial, and you will present the outcomes of your work on the assignment at the following week’s tutorial.
The exception to this weekly cadence will be the final project, which you will work on across a few weeks and present during a poster session showcase during finals week.
What is the expected assignment workload?
Most assignments are just asking you to deploy AI on the actual work you need to do anyway, so it is our expectation that the course will not add significant time to your workload for the quarter.
What is the policy on late assignments?
You will give a brief oral presentation of your assignment outcomes to your tutorial TA during your weekly tutorial, so the deadlines are extremely inflexible in that sense. You need to be ready to present at your scheduled tutorial. That said, if you have a significant challenge that requires accommodation, reach out to the Head TA to consult on options.
