Stats 117: Introduction to Probability

John Duchi, Stanford University, Spring 2026

Tutorials

Tutorial sessions will replace section attendance for half the class. Each tutorial session will consist of a single TA and approximately four students. During the tutorial, the TA will go through the weeks’ homework with the student in the tutorial. Each student will be assigned a random question — revealed at the tutorial — and asked to answer a slight variant of it on the board, with help as needed from the TA.

We hope to use these tutorials as a way to help you understand the material, and the tutorial session will replace grading of your homework. We will evaluate students in the tutorial using the same (broad) rubric as that we use for grading the homework: a score of 2 indicating “mostly correct,” 1 for “kinda yes, kinda no,” and 0 for “did not get it.”
