From a point hovering above the east end of Ponte S. Angelo we get a sweeping upstream view of the river curving around the trees of the Vigna Altoviti (8) in the middle ground. In the far left foreground is a bastion of Castel S. Angelo (1). On the opposite bank, moving from left to right we can identify the landmarks which Vasi lists non-sequentially. First is the church with the double bell towers is mislabeled "Chiesa del Coll. Greco." Actually it is S. Giacomo degli Incurabili (5) on Via del Corso. The church of S. Rocco (4) is next with its old facade. Above its dome we see Villa Medici (6) Plate 188. Next is the church of S. Girolamo degli Schiavoni (9) at the Porto di Ripetta, Plate 85 which is hidden by trees, followed by the huge dome of S. Carlo al Corso (3) Plate 140. To its right appear the twin towers of Trinità dei Monti (7) Plate 113. The large building reflected in the river is the Collegio Clementino (2) Plate 167. The small building in the foreground at far right is the "Conforteria per i dannati a morte" (NN 539) where those about to be executed were brought and "comforted" (see also Plate 86). Nearly all of the buildings along the river were destroyed in the late 19th century for the building of the river walls.
