In the earliest stages, the tingling can easily be relieved simply by shaking the hands, which eases the pressure on the median nerve. If symptoms persist and worsen, it becomes increasingly difficult to be rid of the tingling. Waking up in the night with the tingling is often reported, since sleep positions very often hyper-extend the wrists, pinching the median nerve.
