Max will turn three on January 9th; he's very excited about his first "real" birthday party, which he wants held at a local airplane museum. As you might guess, airplanes top his list of favorite things -- along with tools, gardening equipment, construction vehicles, and anything related to football or baseball. He's been particularly happy that his mommy tends to teach classes filled with Stanford athletes; he really enjoyed going to football games this fall and cheering for her old students (although he was slightly discomforted by the Stanford mascot, a dancing tree). Max loves to "cook" for his family and also enjoys dress-up -- he's pretty equal-opportunity about what he wears (fireman or princess), though he's recently passed out of his high heels stage (which was a great relief for those in his family worried about his ankles, high heels, and hard wood floors). At school, his favorite activity right now is doing puzzles. His favorite stories currently are "Pigs" by Robert Munsch, "The Polar Express" and Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" (the last of which he takes as a personal directive, using Wild Thing Max as his role model -- we've started reading him "The Little Prince" hoping he'll latch onto that one instead). Max's mantra is Live Large and Live in the Present: he is a true force of nature and definitely his father's son.
