LaIR helper hours

What are LaIR helper hours?

LaIR helper hours are an additional set of office hours staffed by our awesome fleet of section leaders. At the LaIR, students can get individual help with debugging and conceptual questions.

In-Person LaIR Logistics

  1. LaIR starts the Wednesday of the first week of the term (6/22).
  2. LaIR is in Durand 353 (glass conference room across from 3rd floor elevator). All students will have after-hours key card access to Durand.
  3. To get help, go to Durand and add your request to the queue using the LaIR signup page.
  4. Do not email the lecturers, head TAs, section leaders, or cs198@cs.stanford.edu with requests or questions regarding LaIR. They will not be answered. The only email that will answer LaIR questions or approve LaIR requests is cs198lair@gmail.com.
  5. All students in LaIR will follow current university guidelines regarding COVID safety. Failure to do so will result in revoked LaIR privileges.

Virtual LaIR Logistics

  1. Virtual LaIR is only available for SCPD students, students who are in isolation due to a COVID infection, or students with OAE letters explaining why they cannot come to in-person LaIR.

    a. For anyone with an OAE quarter-long accommodation, please email cs198lair@gmail.com before Sunday, June 19th with a screenshot of your positive test (with name and date visible), or your OAE letter, and indicate clearly in your email the start and end dates you will require virtual LaIR (you may write "entire quarter" if that is the case).

    b. If you test positive or receive an exposure notification at any point in the quarter, please email cs198lair@gmail.com with a screenshot of your positive test (with name and date visible) or exposure notification (with name and date visible) and indicate clearly in your email the start and end dates of isolation. After your end date for Virtual LaIR has passed, your access to the virtual queue will be revoked and you will have to go in person.

    c. SCPD students will automatically receive access to virtual LaIR for the entire quarter - no need to send us an email.

  2. If you are approved for Virtual LaIR, virtual signups for LaIR follow a similar process to in-person signups via the LaIR signup page, except students approved for virtual LaIR may put Zoom links in the location field of their request.

  3. It is a violation of the Fundamental Standard to falsify documentation for access to virtual LaIR, to attempt to bypass any checks to access virtual LaIR without approval, or to share any links or logins to students other than yourself to access virtual LaIR if you are approved for an accommodation. If we discover any of the above, the course staff will pursue it with the Office of Community Standards.
