New Year New Rookies

Stanford rookies got their first opportunity to pull on the cardinal jersey this past Fridayas they hosted Point Loma Nazarene University.

It was great to see the new players putting all their hard work at practice into action on the field. In all 12 players got their first taste of action on Steuber field. It was a great contest with Stanford going down 10-0 at the half. Stanford used the halftime to regroup and 2 quick tries in the second half from Ryan Crowley and Charles Vidrine saw them take a 12-10 lead. The game was back and forth for most of the second half but with 10 mins left Point Loma managed to punch in another try. Stanford hit back instantly with a try from Cale Williams putting the score at 17-15 with only 5 mins to play, however with Stanford piling on the pressure near the point Loma Tryline and looking like sealing the game a loose pass was pounced on by Point Loma and they were able to break away and score a last minute try to seal the game at 20-17.

This was a very competitive 1st match match for our new players and their performances bodes well for the future.
