Final Exam Grades and Solutions
2023032409
We have released the grades for the Final Exam on Gradescope. You must log in with your Stanford email to see your score. Solutions can be found on the Final Exam Solution Handout.

The median score was a 87.9% (145/165 pts). This exam had a mix of medium and some quite challenging problems. We felt that this median represented a good performance by the class given the difficulty of the problems.

We try to grade as consistently as possible, but we are human and we might make mistakes. If you feel like one of your problems was misgraded, please take a look at the solution handout and then file a regrade request on Gradescope. Regrade requests are open now and will stay open on Gradescope until Monday, March 27th at 2pm PT. Note that your SL cannot regrade your exam. We want you to have the credit you deserve, but filing a formal request helps us make sure that your request goes to the right person. If you submit a regrade request, we do reserve the right to regrade the entire problem and make any necessary corrections.

To get your work regraded before we input your overall grade in Axess, you must submit by the time shown above. If you'd like to ask for a regrade after this, please reach out to Nick and Elyse via email and we will revsit your exam at the start of spring quarter.

Final Exam Logistics
2023031510

The final exam is in person on Monday, March 20th from 10-11:30am. Although the syllabus originally listed a different start time, we'll only be using the second half of our block.

  • First names A-J will be in Hewlett 200.
  • First names K-M will be in Hewlett 201.
  • First names N-Z will be in STLC 111.

If you have OAE accommodations, you will hear from Elyse via email about your exam logistics later this week. Note that your exam will still start at 10am.

We're holding a review session on Friday from 1:30-3pm in Hewlett 201 (right next to our usual class location). This review session will be recorded and posted to Canvas. See the announcement below for more review materials.

Important Exam Logistics:

  1. Please arrive 10 minutes early to account for seating and exam distribution. We'll start promptly at 10am.
  2. We are requiring alternate seating, meaning that we will fill all rows and have exactly one empty seat between each student. We have just enough room for this, so please, no extra spaces or adjacent seating.
  3. The exam will be on paper. Please bring a pencil or pen to write with, and have nothing more on your desk. To be clear, this means no notes, no computers, no phone may be out, unless you have special accomodations.
  4. You'll need to write your SUNET (the part that comes before your email, not the number) at the top of each page of the exam. Please make sure it's clearly legible so that we can assign a grade to each part of your exam.
  5. This will be a closed-note exam. We will provide blank scratch paper for you as well as the same reference guide that is on the final prep handout.

Exam Review Materials
2023031415

We've just published two past final exams, which can be found under the "Handouts" tab. Here's a summary of the review materials you've got this week:

  • We have a final prep handout with problems and solutions.
  • We also have several past final exams that you can use to study. We recommend taking these exams in an exam-like setting: past final 1, past final 2.
  • You'll also be doing final review in section - we'll be going through some of the problems from the prep handout, so no section handout this week.
  • We're having a final review session in Hewlett 201 (right next to our usual class) on Friday from 1:30-3pm. It will be recorded, but come in person to ask questions live!
  • Some section leaders are also hosting an informal review session at 4pm on Friday, check out Ed for more details.

Remember that course resources we've had all quarter, like the experimental server, section problems, and midterm materials are also great for studying!
Week 10 Announcements
2023031409

Hi everyone, a few updates for our last week of class:

  • No lecture on Wednesday - Monday was our final class.
  • Nick's Tuesday office hours have been moved around a bit (2-3pm and 4-5pm), and Nick's Wednesday hours are canceled.
  • We'll be having a review session during Friday class time, from 1:30-3pm in Hewlett 201 (nextdoor to our usual lecture hall).

More exam logistics and practice materials coming shortly!
Retraction and Retroactive Citation Policy
2023031013

We described our honor code policy at the beginning of the quarter, but we wanted to revisit our rules on homework collaboration. Essentially, you are welcome to exchange ideas with other students and the staff, but then you should take those insights and use them to write your own code. If you feel you made a mistake over the course of the quarter, please read this retroactive citation and retraction handout detailing some next steps. You can fill out the retractive citation form if you feel that you have violated the honor code while working on an assignment this quarter.

Homework 8 Released
2023030921

We have released the final homework, HW8, which will be due Wednesday, March 15th at 11:55pm. Here's the HW8 handout.
