The Toshizo Watanabe Scholarship Program

Thanks to a generous $10 million gift from The Toshizo Watanabe Foundation, IUC is pleased to announce a scholarship program for both graduate and undergraduate students with Japan-focused career goals in academia, business, diplomacy/government service, journalism, translation, and law. The Toshizo Watanabe Scholarship Program at the IUC aims to provide deserving students with opportunity to attain the deep linguistic and cultural knowledge needed to become leaders in their fields, and to foster strong collegial bonds and intellectual exchange among them and with their IUC senpai.

Eligibility

Eligibility:(1) PhD, MA, MS, MBA, JD or undergraduate students currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a North American university, who intend to pursue Japan-focused careers in academia, business, diplomacy/government service, journalism, translation, or law. (2) All applicants must pass the IUC language exam.

Language Exam: Required and offered in February, 2018

Attendance Fees

Toshizo Watanabe Scholars will receive a full tuition scholarship to attend the 10-Month Program at the IUC in Yokohama.

How to Apply

All elligible applicants for the IUC 10-Month Program will be considered for the Toshizo Watanabe Scholarship.

The 2018-19 application period will open September 1, 2017.

The application deadline is January 15, 2018.
