End-Quarter Assessment

See About Assessments for an overview of our plan for assessments.

Logistics

  • The end-quarter assessment will take place over Gradescope and will be available from the beginning of Friday 8/13 to the end of Sunday 8/15 at 11:59PM PT.

Format

  • You can expect the end-quarter assessment to look very similar to the mid-quarter diagnostic. It is designed to take around 90 minutes, but you'll have 3 hours to take it.
  • The assessment will be cumulative, meaning that all material from the course is fair game, but the focus of the assessment will be on the latter half of the course material.

Testing Tips

  • You all have worked so hard these past 8 weeks, and your teaching team is incredibly proud of you! Here are two pieces written by amazing CS106 lecturers about their testing philosophies. We'd strongly encourage that you read them, because it's advice that transends CS106b!

Note: because these were written pre-COVID, there may be references to things like IG's that do not apply to this iteration of CS106B.

Practice Materials

  • Below are 2 final assessments from previous iterations of CS106B. We strongly suggest that you first look at the section handout problems, as those are more relevant to the material we have covered this summer.
  • Because the finals are outdated, there are a number of references / topics that we will not be asking for your assessment. Here are the topics that you will not be tested on:
    • Graphs
    • Polymorphism / Inheritance
  • Practice Assessment #1 (solutions)
  • Practice Assessment #2 (solutions)
