Rebecca Daly: I have a LOT of magazines, which I'm going to list here, divided up into segments. As i go through them, I'll change each name into a link. I did not get any of the specific hobby magazines like woodworking or sewing, any workout/health magazines, and i did not get any family/parenting magazines (this was enough!). someone should probably look into the latter. I'm going to start doing this by Tuesday so I'll have an idea of how fast it will go, but I may see if anyone wants to grab one or two of the groups below to do.
My current plan is, for the magazines on cars and other forms of transportation, to see how they are portraying cars and the driving experience, and in the others to see how and to whom they are marketing cars.
Car Magazines
Other Vehicle/Transportation Magazines- I chose these because they seemed likely to either a) have ads for cars or b) present alternative views on cars, as well as presenting some other situations where mobile media might turn up.
Media Magazines
Travel Magazines- I chose these because they should have both car ads and should have some understandings of car culture in them.
Men's Magazines
Women's Magazines- with these i'm trying to look at the ways car advertising (and media advertising, for that matter) is targeted at women. or not.
