Stanford A 32, Cal 10/ Stanford B 20, Cal 25

Stanford Women’s Rugby played rivals Cal over the weekend. The team was raring to go and made an immediate impact in the first half scoring four tries. Center Bisi Ibrahim was first player to put points on the scoreboard, with lock Molly Kinsella and winger Michelle Teo contributing one try apiece. Bisi would also score another try in the first half. The Stanford defense held together brilliantly in the first half and kept the Bears at bay with a 20-0 score at half-time.

In the second half, the Bears took advantage of Stanford’s defensive errors and recovered with two quick tries. However, they were unable to make any of their conversions. Stanford regained their composure and answered with two more of their own tries with eightman Amelia Villines adding a try to her tally. Aly Gleason made one of six conversions and the final score at the whistle was 32-10.

The Stanford B side also played against Cal and players Tia Watkins, Michelle Batlle scored a try each in the first half. Two more Stanford tries were recorded in the second half of the match, with rookie Annie Parker scoring a try and Batlle capping off the game with her second try of the day. Despite Stanford’s valiant efforts, the Cal team was able to score 5 tries against them. None of the sides were successful in making any of their conversion attempts and the game ended with a score of 20-25.
